The Great Neutron Wars devastated the world, leaving it a barren wasteland dotted with isolated city-states. The most notorious of these city-states is the Arena, a brutal metropolis ruled by the tyrannical Lord Zirpola. The Arena is home to the DeathSport, a deadly game in which skilled riders duel on souped-up motorcycles known as Death Machines.
Kaz is one of the top riders in the DeathSport, known for his speed, agility, and ruthlessness. He was raised in the Arena and has spent his entire life fighting for survival. When he is captured by Lord Zirpola's forces, he is given an ultimatum: compete in the DeathSport or die.
Despite his skill, Kaz is reluctant to participate in the DeathSport again. He has seen too many friends and allies die in the arena, and he is haunted by the memory of his brother, who was killed in a previous DeathSport competition. But when he meets Deneer, a renegade vixen who has her own reasons for hating Lord Zirpola, Kaz begins to see a way out.
Deneer is a skilled mechanic who has been working on a prototype Death Machine that could give Kaz a fighting chance in the arena. With her help, Kaz sets out to not only survive the DeathSport but to win it and take down Lord Zirpola once and for all. But as he faces off against his deadliest opponents yet, Kaz must face his own demons and make peace with his past if he hopes to have any chance of a future.
