Death on the Nile is a mystery-thriller film based on the 1937 novel of the same name by Agatha Christie. The movie follows Hercule Poirot (Kenneth Branagh), a renowned Belgian detective, who is on vacation in Egypt aboard a luxury river steamer. While enjoying the scenic views and exotic culture, Poirot finds himself drawn into a mysterious murder case.
The victim is a beautiful young woman named Linnet Ridgeway (Gal Gadot), who was on her honeymoon with her new husband, Simon Doyle (Armie Hammer). Linnet was a wealthy heiress who had many enemies, including a former suitor named Jacqueline de Bellefort (Emma Mackey), who was seen threatening her shortly before her death.
As Poirot begins to investigate, he finds that almost everyone onboard the ship has a motive for the killing. The suspects include Linnet's former best friend, her loyal maid, a lawyer who was hired to protect her interests, and a famous novelist who had made her the subject of his latest book.
As the investigation progresses, Poirot uncovers a web of deceit and betrayal that stretches beyond the confines of the riverboat. With his keen eye for detail and expert deduction skills, he must race against time to catch the killer before they strike again.
Death on the Nile boasts an impressive ensemble cast that also includes Russell Brand, Letitia Wright, Sophie Okonedo, and Dawn French. The movie was directed by Branagh, who also plays the lead role of Poirot. It is a sequel to his 2017 movie Murder on the Orient Express, which also adapted a famous Christie novel.
