The movie Death at a Funeral is a dark comedy that revolves around the chaos that ensues during a family funeral. Aaron, played by Chris Rock, is the eldest son of his family and is tasked with organizing his father's funeral. However, everything goes awry as the funeral home delivers the wrong body and Aaron's cousin, played by Zoe Saldana, accidentally drugs her fiancé with a hallucinogenic that causes him to act erratically.
Adding to the chaos is Aaron's successful younger brother, Ryan, played by Martin Lawrence, who arrives from New York and is broke but arrogant. Ryan's presence creates tension between the siblings, as Ryan often belittles Aaron and makes fun of his humble lifestyle.
As the funeral progresses, a mysterious stranger, played by Peter Dinklage, arrives and demands a private conversation with Aaron. It is revealed that the stranger is a former lover of Aaron's father and has come to blackmail the family with embarrassing photographs unless they pay him a large sum of money.
The family struggles to keep the funeral on track amidst all the chaos, as the wrong body is discovered, fights break out, and the hallucinating cousin runs around the house screaming. The film ends with the family finally laying their father to rest, having managed to keep the day from completely falling apart.
