Dear God

Comedy  United States of America

Dear God is a heartwarming comedic movie that tells the story of Tom Turner, played by Greg Kinnear, a down-on-his-luck con artist who finds a new gig as a postal worker in a dead-end post office in Los Angeles.

One day, Tom comes across a pile of letters addressed to God that were not delivered due to incomplete addresses or other issues. Inspired to do something good, Tom decides to fulfill the requests and starts answering them himself. Soon, people around the world start receiving unexplained miracles, blessings, and sometimes even money from an unknown source.

At the same time, a corporate executive from the postal service, played by Laurie Metcalf, is annoyed by the sudden increase in letters addressed to God. She sees it as an unnecessary distraction for the post office, and launches a campaign to stop the "God letters" from being delivered.

Meanwhile, Tom's good deeds start improving his own life as well. He develops a newfound sense of purpose and hope, and begins to help others in need. However, things start to spiral out of control when the letters become more frequent, and people start flocking to the post office to see the mysterious "letter answering machine."

The movie culminates in a heartwarming finale where Tom and his fellow postal workers come together to deliver the final batch of the God letters, and the miracles that ensue inspire a greater sense of community and empathy among the characters.

Overall, Dear God is a funny and heartwarming movie that explores themes of faith, hope, and the power of kindness. It features an ensemble cast that includes Kinnear, Metcalf, Tim Conway, and Rosalind Chao, and was directed by Garry Marshall.
