Deal is a 2008 drama film directed by Gil Cates Jr. The story revolves around Alex, a cocky college student, who thinks he knows everything about playing poker. When he meets Tommy Vinson, an ex-gambler who lost everything to poker, he is convinced to become his tutor and friend.
Tommy is a seasoned player who has been out of the game for years, but he agrees to mentor Alex for the biggest poker tournament of the year, the World Series of Poker (WSOP). Though initially hesitant, Alex is drawn to Tommy's old-fashioned ways and starts to realize that poker is not just about the cards; it’s about reading people and knowing when to bluff and when to hold back.
As the two embark on their journey to Las Vegas, they form a close bond, and Tommy begins to see Alex as the son he never had. Along the way, they meet a variety of characters, including a woman who is always one step ahead of them, and another who harbors a secret crush on Alex.
When they finally make it to the WSOP, Tommy and Alex find themselves competing against each other, with everything on the line. As they face off head-to-head, they both realize that winning isn't everything and that their friendship is the most valuable prize of all.
