D-Day the Sixth of June is a 1956 war drama film directed by Henry Koster. The film stars Robert Taylor as American Army Captain Brad Parker and Richard Todd as British Army Captain John Wynter. Both officers are deeply in love with the same woman, a French widow named Valerie Russell (Dana Wynter).
As they make their way to Normandy for the D-Day invasion, Parker and Wynter reminisce about their romances with Valerie. Parker met her first in Algiers during the North African Campaign, and they fell deeply in love. However, due to his duty to serve in the invasion of Italy, Parker had to leave Valerie behind.
Wynter met Valerie later in London and quickly became smitten with her. Valerie introduced Wynter to Parker and the two became fast friends. However, when Wynter realizes his friend's deep love for Valerie, he steps back and allows Parker to pursue her.
As the D-Day invasion approaches, both Parker and Wynter are conflicted about their feelings for Valerie and what the future may hold for their relationships.
