DC Showcase: Adam Strange is an animated short film based on the DC Comics character of the same name. The film is produced by Warner Bros. Animation and DC Comics and is part of the DC Showcase series.
The story is set on an asteroid mining colony where the miners are struggling to make a living. The workers are unaware that one of their own, an alcoholic drifter, is actually the legendary space adventurer Adam Strange. When the miners accidentally open a fissure into a nest of deadly alien insects, Adam must use his skills and experience to save the colony.
As the story unfolds, we see flashbacks to Adam's heroic origin as an Earthling who is transported to the planet Rann by a Zeta-Beam. There he becomes a hero, fighting against the villains who threaten the planet and falling in love with its beautiful queen.
The film features the voice talents of Charlie Weber as Adam Strange and Roger R. Cross as his old friend and fellow adventurer, Sardath. It was directed by Butch Lukic and written by J.M. DeMatteis.
