Daylight is a 1996 American action disaster film directed by Rob Cohen and starring Sylvester Stallone, Amy Brenneman, Viggo Mortensen, Daniel Massey, Stan Shaw, Karen Young, Jay O. Sanders, Claire Bloom, Vanessa Bell Calloway, and Colin Fox.
The movie's plot begins with a group of robbers attempting to escape the police through the Holland Tunnel. However, during their escape, they collide with a truck which is transporting toxic waste. The collision results in a massive explosion which destroys both ends of the tunnel, trapping the survivors inside the tunnel complex.
Kit Latura, played by Stallone, is a former New York City Emergency Medical Services worker who is familiar with the tunnel's layout and has prior experience with rescue operations. He takes charge of the situation and attempts to lead the survivors to safety before the tunnel collapses completely.
