The movie Darkness Falls follows Detective Jeff Anderson, who is struggling to come to terms with his wife's suicide. Despite the ruling of suicide from the coroner, Jeff becomes convinced that his wife was murdered and starts to investigate the situation more thoroughly.
As he delves deeper into the case, Jeff discovers a pattern of deaths that all seem to connect to a father-and-son serial killer team. With the help of his colleague, Detective Ellie Raines, he begins to unravel the truth behind the murders and start to understand the killers' motivations.
The team of killers, who have been dubbed "the family," targets women who have been victims of abuse, seeking to avenge their own history of mistreatment at the hands of their own abusive father. They leave behind a signature symbol of a butterfly at each of their crime scenes.
Jeff becomes increasingly obsessed with his investigation and drives himself to the brink of sanity trying to track down the killers and stop them before they strike again. Along the way, he also must confront the inner demons that led to his wife's death and find a way to bring closure to both her death and the murders at hand.
As he races against time to catch the killers, Jeff must navigate a dangerous path, risking his own life and those of the people he cares about to bring justice to the victims of The Family.
