Dark Streets is a film-noir inspired musical set in the 1930s. Chaz Davenport, played by actor Gabriel Mann, is the wealthy heir to a fortune built on gambling and bootlegging. He owns the hottest nightclub in town, where the ambiance is set by the stunning vocals of his girlfriend, Crystal (Bijou Phillips), and the seductive dances of the club's performers.
But things start to unravel when the power to the club starts flickering, and Chaz discovers that his father's mysterious death may not have been an accident. Meanwhile, he becomes entangled in a dangerous love triangle with Crystal and a mysterious woman named Madelaine (Izabella Miko).
As the plot thickens, songs by legendary blues and jazz singers are woven seamlessly into the story, including Ruth Brown's "If I Can't Sell It, I'll Keep Sittin' On It" and Etta James' "The Sky Is Crying." The film's unique blend of music, mystery, and romance has drawn comparisons to Baz Luhrmann's Moulin Rouge and the Coen brothers' The Big Lebowski.
Dark Streets was released in 2008 and directed by Rachel Samuels. It had a limited theatrical run but has since gained a cult following among fans of neo-noir and musical cinema.
