Dark Places is a psychological thriller based on the novel of the same name by Gillian Flynn. The story follows the life of Libby Day, who at the age of eight witnessed the murder of her mother and two sisters in what was believed to be a Satanic cult ritual. Her older brother, Ben, was convicted of the murders and has been in prison ever since.
Years later, Libby is living off the proceeds of a tell-all book about her family's tragedy. But when she's approached by a group of amateur investigators, the Kill Club, who believe her brother is innocent, she begins to question the events of that day. As Libby delves into the past, she uncovers shocking secrets and a network of lies that threaten to destroy her.
The film stars Charlize Theron as Libby Day, Nicholas Hoult as the Kill Club member Lyle Wirth, and Christina Hendricks as Patty Day, Libby's mother. The movie is directed by Gilles Paquet-Brenner and features a tense, atmospheric score by Gregory Tripi.
