In Dark Phoenix, the X-Men are sent on a mission to space to rescue a group of astronauts. During the mission, Jean Grey, played by Sophie Turner, is hit by a powerful cosmic force that amplifies her already formidable powers to an uncontrollable extent.
As Jean struggles to harness her new, dangerous abilities, the X-Men must decide whether to help her or stop her before she causes irreparable harm to herself and others.
Meanwhile, an alien race led by Vuk, played by Jessica Chastain, seeks to manipulate Jean's powers to achieve their own goals. The X-Men must face not only Jean's rapid transformations, but also the impending alien threat, as they fight to save their teammate and the world at large.
The movie features an all-star cast of returnees from previous X-Men films, including James McAvoy as Charles Xavier, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, and Nicholas Hoult as Beast. The film also marks the directorial debut of Simon Kinberg, who has worked on several previous X-Men films as a writer and producer.
