The 2003 movie Daredevil, based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name, follows Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer living in Hell's Kitchen, New York City. After being blinded as a child, Murdock's remaining senses become heightened to superhuman levels. He uses these heightened senses to fight crime and represent the oppressed in court.
As Daredevil, Murdock wears a red leather suit and fights crime using his acrobatic abilities, martial arts skills, and enhanced senses. His nemesis is the Kingpin, a crime lord who controls much of New York City's criminal underworld.
The movie also features the character of Elektra Natchios, a love interest of Murdock's who is also a skilled martial artist. The two engage in a romantic relationship while also fighting against the forces of the Kingpin.
Daredevil ultimately sacrifices himself to save the city from a deadly virus unleashed by the Kingpin. The movie received mixed reviews upon its release but has since gained a cult following.
