Dare is a 2009 coming-of-age drama film directed by Adam Salky and written by David Brind. The film stars Emmy Rossum, Zach Gilford, and Ashley Springer in the lead roles.
The story revolves around three high school seniors - good girl Alexa (Emmy Rossum), her best friend Ben (Ashley Springer), and the handsome rebel Johnny (Zach Gilford). Alexa is a studious and responsible student, who is always trying to follow her parents' rules. Ben is a closeted gay young man who is struggling to come out. And Johnny is a vibrant and mysterious bad boy who has a reputation for being wild and dangerous.
One day, a pompous actor tells Alexa that she hasn't lived, and she takes it as a challenge to prove him wrong. She decides to embark on a bold journey that takes her out of her comfort zone. She attends a wild party, drinks alcohol, and drugs, and even has an intimate moment with Johnny. This sets off a chain of events that changes her life forever.
As Alexa's journey continues, she becomes more and more attached to Johnny, despite the warnings of her best friend Ben. But soon enough, Johnny reveals a painful secret about his past, which tests their relationship.
