Daniel's Daughter is a 2008 made-for-television movie directed by Neill Fearnley. The film follows the story of Katherine (Laura Leighton), a successful New York City journalist who returns to her hometown in Maryland after her estranged father, Daniel (Sebastian Spence), dies unexpectedly. The town holds painful memories for Katherine as it was the place where she grew up and was forced to leave after her teenage pregnancy.

Upon her arrival, Katherine is welcomed by her father's best friend, Charlie (David Lewis), who informs her that the sale of her father's boat-building business is stalled. With little enthusiasm, Katherine decides to stay in town to help Charlie with the business, as well as to settle her father's estate. Her arrival in town, however, stirs up old feelings and animosity from her former best friend, Jennifer (Kerr Smith), and her high school boyfriend, Mick (Brandon Firla).

As Katherine faces the challenges of her past, she begins to reflect on her own life choices, including the decision to give up her daughter, Emily (Elyse Levesque), for adoption years ago. Katherine reconnects with Emily, who works at a local diner, and they start to form a bond. Eventually, Katherine decides to tell Emily the truth about their relationship.

Despite these challenges, Katherine finds a way to reconcile with her past and find happiness with her daughter, Emily, and her former love interest, Mick. The film ultimately explores themes of redemption, forgiveness, and the power of family ties to overcome old wounds.
