Cutting Class is a horror-comedy film directed by Rospo Pallenberg and released in 1989. The movie follows Paula Carson, a high school student who finds herself torn between two suitors: Dwight, the school's resident bad boy played by Brad Pitt in one of his earliest roles, and Brian, a troubled young man who has just been released from a mental hospital after being committed for the suspicious death of his father.
As Paula tries to navigate her complicated love life, a series of murders begins to occur in her town. The police suspect that Brian may be responsible for the killings, but Dwight also becomes a prime suspect as he tries to eliminate the competition for Paula's affections.
Meanwhile, Paula's father, who is the school principal, is struggling with his own problems - including an embezzlement scandal and an affair with one of his students. As the body count rises and the tension mounts, Paula must decide which of her suitors she can trust and whether she'll be the next victim.
The movie was not a critical or commercial success, but has since gained a cult following among horror fans. It is notable for being one of Brad Pitt's earliest film appearances, as well as featuring a supporting role from veteran actor Martin Mull.
