Curse of the Ring (also known as Ring of the Nibelungs), is a 2004 television movie based on the legendary Norse mythology. The film was directed by Uli Edel and adapted from the Vรถlsunga saga and Nibelungenlied myths, which inspired J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings.

The movie opens with Eyvind, a blacksmith and his wife Alvida (Alicia Witt), living a peaceful life in their village with their young son Siegfried. One day, two evil kings, Hagen (Julian Sands) and Alberich (Samuel West), raid the village, killing Siegfried's father and seeking to kill the baby prince. However, Eyvind manages to rescue Siegfried and take him to a faraway place to keep him safe.

Years later, Siegfried, now a grown man, returns to his kingdom to claim his birthright. Along with his loyal friends, including the fierce Valkyrie warrior Brunhild (Kristanna Loken) and the cunning dwarf Mime (Robert Pattinson), Siegfried sets out to defeat the evil Hagen and Alberich and restore peace to his kingdom.

However, to achieve his goal, Siegfried must first retrieve the Ring of the Nibelungs, which holds great power and is guarded by the dragon Fafnir. With the help of Mime, who has long coveted the ring, Siegfried manages to slay the dragon and claim the ring.

But the ring proves to be a source of great temptation and conflict, leading to tragic consequences for Siegfried and his loved ones. In the end, Eyvind, who has always been watching over Siegfried, sacrifices himself to break the curse of the ring and bring peace to the kingdom once and for all.

The movie features stunning visuals, epic battle scenes, and a talented cast, including Max von Sydow, Benno Furmann, Kristanna Loken, and Robert Pattinson in one of his early roles. While it deviates from the original myths in some aspects, Curse of the Ring offers a compelling and entertaining retelling of a classic legend.
