The Curse of the Pink Panther is a 1983 comedy film and the eighth installment in the Pink Panther franchise. The film features a new character, NYPD Sergeant Clifton Sleigh (played by Ted Wass), who is assigned to search for the missing Inspector Clouseau.

However, the search proves to be more difficult than expected when it is revealed that Clouseau’s arch-nemesis, Chief Inspector Dreyfus (played by Herbert Lom), has manipulated the Surete’s computer to select the world’s worst detective for the job. Sleigh is initially reluctant to take on the mission, but is convinced to do so by Dreyfus’s assistant, Simone LeGree (played by Joanna Lumley).

Sleigh bumbles his way through the investigation, with disastrous consequences at every turn. Along the way, he encounters a variety of colorful characters, including a seductive Russian agent (played by Lesley-Anne Down), a mysterious assassin (played by Robert Loggia) and a corrupt French politician (played by Robert Webber).

Despite his incompetence, Sleigh manages to uncover a conspiracy surrounding Clouseau’s disappearance, and ultimately succeeds in locating the missing inspector. However, his antics draw the attention of Dreyfus and LeGree, who plot to use Sleigh as a pawn in their own schemes.

The Curse of the Pink Panther received mixed reviews upon its release, with some critics praising the film’s humor and others criticizing its lack of originality. Despite its flaws, however, the movie remains a popular entry in the Pink Panther franchise, and is still enjoyed by fans of comedic cinema today.
