Cry-Baby is a 1990 American musical romantic comedy film directed by John Waters. The film is set in Baltimore in 1954 and follows the story of Allison Vernon-Williams (Amy Locane), a prim and proper teenage schoolgirl, who falls in love with Wade "Cry-Baby" Walker (Johnny Depp), a motorcycle-riding juvenile delinquent with a bad boy reputation.

Allison comes from a wealthy family and her mother Mrs. Vernon-Williams (Polly Bergen) is determined to keep her daughter away from Cry-Baby and his delinquent friends. Despite her mother's disapproval, Allison is smitten with Cry-Baby and is drawn to his rebellious charm.

As the two fall deeply in love, Allison begins to rebel against her mother's strict rules and expectations. Cry-Baby and his gang, known as the Drapes, also become more accepting of Allison and her preppy friends, known as the Squares.

However, tensions rise when Cry-Baby is framed for a crime he didn't commit and is sent to jail. Allison must use her wealthy connections and resources to clear his name and get him released.

The film features a number of musical numbers, including performances by Johnny Depp and Traci Lords. Cry-Baby received mixed reviews upon release but has since gained a cult following for its over-the-top humor and satirical commentary on 1950s teenage culture.
