Guy is a struggling actor who seems to have hit rock bottom. He's out of work and out of money, which leads him to accept a gig as a waiter at a high-profile party. It's at this party that he meets Veronica, a beautiful and intriguing woman who he ends up sleeping with.
It doesn't take long for Guy to realize that things are not as they seem when he discovers a wedding band in Veronica's jewelry box. When he confronts her about it, she tells him she's married to Burt Walker, a man she's been with since she was a teenager.
Guy is obviously distraught and can't believe he's been sleeping with a married woman, especially one who is married to a man as dangerous as Burt Walker. He decides to come clean and tell Walker about his affair with Veronica.
To his surprise, Walker takes it surprisingly well and even seems to befriend Guy. He takes him under his wing, showing him the ropes and even setting him up with acting gigs.
