The movie follows the story of Tess Harper (Lacey Chabert), a crossword puzzle editor for a local newspaper. Her life takes a dramatic turn when she finds herself in the middle of a police investigation. Several of the clues in her recent puzzles are linked to unsolved crimes, and the police suspect her of being involved.
Detective Logan O'Connor (Brennan Elliott) is assigned to the case and asks Tess for her help in uncovering the truth. Despite her reluctance, Tess agrees to work with Logan to clear her name and find the real culprit.
As they work together, Tess and Logan find themselves becoming more and more entangled in the case. They decipher clues and follow leads, but the closer they get to the truth, the more danger they face. With their lives on the line, Tess and Logan must race against time to solve the case before it's too late.
Along the way, they uncover a web of secrets and lies that lead them to suspect everyone from Tess's colleagues to the victim's family and friends. As they struggle to untangle the truth, Tess and Logan find themselves growing closer and must confront their feelings for each other.
