Warriors of the Lacrosse Field

Drama  United States of America

Crooked Arrows is a sports drama film that centers around a Native American lacrosse team, the Crooked Arrows, and their journey through a prep school league tournament. The team is made up of high school students from the fictional reservation of the Eastern Lenape tribe in upstate New York.

The main character is Joe Logan (played by Brandon Routh), a mixed-race man who grew up on the reservation before leaving to attend a prestigious prep school. When he returns to coach the Crooked Arrows, he is met with resistance from the tribal council who view the sport as a form of cultural appropriation.

Despite the challenges, Joe perseveres and molds the team into a competitive force through a combination of traditional Native American lacrosse techniques and modern strategies. Along the way, the team members confront personal issues and cultural identity struggles, but ultimately come together as a cohesive unit.

The film features a mix of Native American and non-Native American actors and was praised for its authentic representation of Native American culture and lacrosse traditions. Crooked Arrows was released in 2012 and was directed by Steve Rash.
