Crimson Tide is a 1995 action thriller directed by Tony Scott and starring Denzel Washington and Gene Hackman. The film follows the story of a US nuclear missile submarine, the USS Alabama, which is dispatched to the waters off the coast of Russia during a time of heightened tensions between the two countries.

The remaining story follows the tug-of-war between Ramsey and Hunter as they try to gain control of the situation. During a tense stand-off, both characters question their own beliefs and ideals, leading to a dramatic ending that involves a possible confrontation between the two countries.
