In the movie Crazy People, Emory Leeson (played by Dudley Moore) is a successful ad executive who has grown tired of creating false promises and lies in advertising. He begins to create truthful, blunt and offensive advertisements which cause him to be admitted to a mental institution for evaluation. Here, he meets a group of patients who are refreshingly honest and straightforward.

Emory comes to the realization that the patients in the institution are more sane than the people on the outside and he decides to use their honesty and unconventional thinking to his advantage. He starts to brainstorm honest advertisements with the patients, which leads to the creation of several successful campaigns for major brands, including Volvo and American Airlines.

One of the patients, Kathy Burgess (played by Daryl Hannah), develops a romantic relationship with Emory, but he struggles with his feelings because of the stigma associated with mental illness. However, as he spends more time with Kathy and the other patients, he begins to see them as individuals who are more than their diagnoses.

As Emory's success grows, he becomes torn between his new creative freedom and his old life in advertising. He must decide if he wants to continue down the path of honesty and risk losing everything or return to his old ways.

Overall, Crazy People is a heartwarming comedy that explores the power of human connection and the importance of being true to oneself.
