Coolie No. 1 is a 2020 Bollywood comedy film directed by David Dhawan, starring Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan in the lead roles. It is a remake of the 1995 film of the same name, which also starred Govinda in the lead role.
The story revolves around Jai Kishen (played by Jaaved Jaffrey), a matchmaker who is insulted by the wealthy businessman Rosario (played by Paresh Rawal). In order to teach Rosario a lesson, Jai Kishen gets his daughter Sarah (played by Sara Ali Khan) married to Raju (played by Varun Dhawan), a coolie who poses as a millionaire.
However, things start to go wrong when Rosario and his family sense something fishy and Raju's deceptions are discovered. In an attempt to cover up his lies, Raju cooks up a story about having a filthy rich twin brother. As the lies pile up, more and more people get involved, leading to a comedy of errors.
The film also features a number of popular Bollywood actors, including Rajpal Yadav, Johnny Lever, Sahil Vaid, and Shikha Talsania. It is produced by Vashu Bhagnani, Jackky Bhagnani, and Deepshikha Deshmukh, with music by Tanishk Bagchi, Lijo George - DJ Chetas, and Javed-Mohsin.
