Conviction

Drama  United States of America

The movie Conviction is based on the true story of Betty Anne Waters and her quest to clear her brother Kenny's name. After Kenny is accused and convicted of murder, Betty Anne becomes convinced that he is innocent and dedicates her life to proving it. She puts herself through school, earning a GED, an associate's degree, a bachelor's degree, and eventually a law degree, all while working multiple jobs and raising her children.

Along the way, Betty Anne faces numerous obstacles, including skeptical family members, uncooperative law enforcement officials, and a legal system that seems stacked against her. With the help of her best friend Abra, she tirelessly works to gather evidence and build a case for Kenny's innocence.

One of the key pieces of evidence that eventually exonerates Kenny is DNA testing, which was not available at the time of his trial. Betty Anne and her team use a new DNA technique called mitochondrial DNA testing, which helps to prove his innocence.

The movie is a powerful testament to the strength of family bonds and the determination of one woman to fight for justice for her brother.
