Continental Divide is a romantic comedy film, released in 1981, directed by Michael Apted, and starring John Belushi and Blair Brown. The movie follows the story of Ernie Souchak, a tough and cynical newspaper reporter for the Chicago Sun-Times, who is assigned to cover a story about a scientist named Dr. Nell Porter, who studies the behavior of bald eagles in the wilderness of Wyoming. However, their professional and personal differences threaten to become too great for them to overcome, primarily when Ernie uncovers a possible political scandal related to Dr. Porter's work. Their relationship is further tested when Ernie decides to follow Nell into the wilderness to write a feature on her research, leading to an unexpected adventure as they navigate the rugged terrain, fending off wild animals and rekindling their romance. The movie ends with the couple's newfound appreciation for each other and their decision to try to make their relationship work despite the odds against them.
