Rebecca Bloomwood, played by Isla Fisher, is a young woman with a major shopping addiction and a passion for fashion. She spends her days browsing the racks of designer stores and buying expensive clothes, shoes, and accessories she doesn't need. To fund her habit, she takes multiple credit cards and applies for new ones without a second thought.
Despite her financial troubles, Rebecca dreams of working for her favorite fashion magazine, Alette, and becomes determined to land a job there. Through a series of mishaps, she lands a job as an advice columnist for a financial magazine called Successful Savings, published by the same company as Alette.
As Rebecca tries to fake her way through her new job, she begins to fall for her handsome and charming boss, Luke Brandon (Hugh Dancy). However, her shopping addiction continues to worsen, and she finds herself spiraling out of control as she tries to hide her financial problems from everyone around her.
