In Company Man, Allen Quimp is a schoolteacher who is unhappy in his marriage to the nagging Daisy. To make his life easier, he tells her he is a CIA agent and must disappear on secret missions. Daisy believes him and gets off his back, but soon enough, Allen finds himself in over his head when he accidentally helps a Russian ballet dancer defect to the United States.
Impressed with his "espionage skills," the CIA recruits Allen to go undercover in Cuba to locate "Agent X," a mole within the organization. With no training and no backup, Allen is thrown into the dangerous world of Cuban politics and espionage.
Along the way, he meets a diverse cast of characters, including a Cuban rebel, a CIA agent with a hidden agenda, and a sultry spy. As Allen gets closer to finding Agent X, the stakes get higher and he must use all his wit and resources to survive.
Eventually, Allen realizes that he is in way over his head and must come to terms with his own limitations. He confronts his own cowardice and flaws, and in the end, finds a way to save the day and win back his wife's love.
