Commando is a 1985 action thriller film directed by Mark L. Lester and starring Arnold Schwarzenegger as John Matrix, a former elite warrior who must come out of retirement to rescue his daughter, Jenny (played by Alyssa Milano), after she is kidnapped by mercenaries with a grudge against him.
The movie begins with Matrix living a peaceful life with his daughter in the mountains of California. However, things take a turn when a group of mercenaries led by Arius (played by Dan Hedaya) sneak up and kidnap Jenny, demanding that Matrix assassinate the president of Arius' home country. Matrix is given a set of false instructions and is able to escape his captors, setting off on a mission to rescue his daughter.
Matrix must use all of his skills to battle through the streets of Los Angeles, facing off against an array of henchmen, each more dangerous than the last, as well as several former members of his own commando unit. Along the way, he is aided by Cindy (played by Rae Dawn Chong), a spunky flight attendant who gets caught up in Matrix's fight.
The film is known for its fast-paced action sequences, over-the-top violence, and Schwarzenegger's signature one-liners. Despite receiving mixed reviews upon its release, Commando has since become a cult classic and a beloved staple of 80s action cinema.
