Coming 2 America is a comedy film released in 2021 and the sequel to the 1988 film Coming to America. It is directed by Craig Brewer and stars Eddie Murphy, Arsenio Hall, Jermaine Fowler, Leslie Jones, and Tracy Morgan.
The film begins with Prince Akeem Joffer (Eddie Murphy) who is set to become the king of Zamunda. However, he discovers that he has a son that he never knew about – Lavelle (Jermaine Fowler) in Queens, New York. Lavelle is a street-smart young man who aspires to become a businessman and has no idea about his royal lineage.
Akeem and his loyal friend Semmi (Arsenio Hall) then travel to Queens to find Lavelle and bring him back to Zamunda to be groomed as the crown prince. Once they arrive in America, they are reunited with old friends and encounter new challenges and issues.
The film portrays the struggles that Lavelle faces when he enters the royal lifestyle and the challenges he faces in adapting and fitting into the Zamundan culture. Along the way, the audience is treated to a host of fun and entertaining cameos from the original movie.
