Come Sunday

Drama  United States of America

Come Sunday is a 2018 drama film based on the real-life story of Evangelist Carlton Pearson, who was an immensely popular and respected preacher in the Pentecostal church. However, when Pearson has an epiphany one day and begins preaching that there is no Hell and that everyone, including non-Christians, will go to heaven, he is met with resistance by his congregation and peers.

Pearson's beliefs are viewed as heresy by his fellow preachers and the church hierarchy, and he is ultimately ostracized from his church and community. Even his own family members and colleagues turn their backs on him, leaving Pearson feeling alone and abandoned.

As Pearson struggles to reconcile his faith with his newfound beliefs, he is forced to confront questions of morality, judgment, and the very nature of God. He eventually finds solace in a new community that accepts him for who he is, and continues to preach his message, despite the repercussions it has on his personal and professional life.

Come Sunday is a powerful and thought-provoking film that tackles complex theological themes while also highlighting the importance of individual conviction and standing up for one's beliefs, even in the face of opposition. The film stars Chiwetel Ejiofor as Carlton Pearson, with co-stars such as Danny Glover, Condola Rashad, Jason Segel, and Martin Sheen.
