The movie Come On Irene follows the story of Iwao Shishido, a middle-aged man who has never been married and lives with his mother Tsuru in Japan. Tsuru is not happy with her son's lack of success in finding a wife and constantly pressures him to settle down.
Iwao decides to take a bridal tour to the Philippines in hopes of finding a wife. He meets Irene, a young Filipino woman, and they hit it off. Iwao pays the three million yen fee for the bridal tour, and Irene agrees to marry him and move to Japan with him.
When they return to Japan, Iwao introduces Irene to his mother, who immediately takes a disliking to her. Tsuru is grieving the recent loss of her husband and feels that Iwao has disrespected his father's memory by marrying a woman she has never met before.
Tsuru's objections create tension and conflict within the family as Irene tries to prove herself to her new mother-in-law while also fitting into Japanese culture. As they navigate cultural differences and family tensions, Iwao and Irene's relationship is put to the test.
