In Come Clean, the Hardys set out to have a peaceful evening watching their favorite TV show, "Life in the Woods." However, their plans are thwarted when the Laurels, their neighbors, come over uninvited. The Laurels, who are always bickering and arguing, prove to be a nuisance, but the Hardys try to be hospitable.
As the Laurels are leaving, Stan and Ollie offer to walk them to the elevator, and on the way back, they stop at an ice cream parlor. It is here that they encounter a woman who is trying to jump off a bridge. Ollie manages to grab her by the hair and pull her back, but she is ungrateful and verbally abusive towards them.
Despite this, they are sympathetic towards her and offer to take her back to their apartment. However, they soon regret their decision when she starts causing chaos and demanding their attention. She even threatens to call the police if they don't do what she says.
The rest of the evening is spent trying to hide the woman from their wives, who eventually find out about the situation. In the end, the woman is caught by the police and the Hardys are left to deal with the aftermath. Despite the chaos, they manage to come out of the situation unscathed and still in good spirits.
