Come As You Are is a heartwarming comedy-drama that follows the journey of Scotty (Grant Rosenmeyer), Matt (Hayden Szeto), and Mo (Ravi Patel), three best friends in their twenties who have been confined by their disabilities for most of their lives. Scotty is a paraplegic, Matt is blind, and Mo has muscular dystrophy that has left him unable to move his arms and legs.
Despite their limitations, the trio is determined to live life to the fullest and experience one of the most important rites of passage: losing their virginity. They hear about a brothel in Montreal that caters to people with special needs and offers a safe and understanding environment to explore their sexuality.
Against the wishes of their overprotective families, the friends embark on a road trip to Canada in a specially equipped van driven by Sam (Gabourey Sidibe), an inexperienced nurse who is hired to accompany them on their journey. Along the way, they encounter various challenges, including border guards, language barriers, and unexpected emotions, but they remain steadfast in their goal and face every obstacle with humor and resilience.
Their journey to the brothel, and the experiences they have there, ultimately leads each of them to a deeper understanding of themselves and their place in the world. Come As You Are is a poignant and uplifting story that challenges preconceptions about disabilities while celebrating the universal desire for human connection and independence.
