Griselda Blanco, also known as the "Cocaine Godmother" or "Black Widow," was a notorious drug lord who operated in the 1970s and 1980s. She was born in Cartagena, Colombia, in 1943 and grew up in poverty. At a young age, she turned to crime and began working as a pickpocket and prostitute.
In the 1970s, Griselda became involved in the drug trade and quickly rose through the ranks of the MedellÃn Cartel, which was led by Pablo Escobar. She was known for her ruthless tactics, including ordering hits on her enemies and even members of her own family. She is believed to be responsible for hundreds of murders.
Griselda was arrested in 1985 and sentenced to 20 years in prison for drug trafficking. However, she continued to run her drug empire from behind bars, using a network of loyal followers to carry out her orders. She was released from prison in 2004 and deported back to Colombia, where she was assassinated by a hitman in 2012.
Despite her violent and criminal past, Griselda remains a controversial figure in Colombia and is sometimes remembered as a hero by those who were inspired by her rise from poverty to power. Her story has been the subject of various films and TV series, including Cocaine Godmother, which starred Catherine Zeta-Jones as Griselda.
