Clue is a comedic mystery film based on the popular board game of the same name. It was released in 1985 and directed by Jonathan Lynn. The film stars an ensemble cast that includes Tim Curry, Madeline Kahn, Christopher Lloyd, Eileen Brennan, and Michael McKean, among others.
The plot of the film revolves around the six guests who are invited to Mr. Boddy's mansion for dinner. The guests are Colonel Mustard, Mrs. White, Mrs. Peacock, Professor Plum, Mr. Green, and Miss Scarlet. When they arrive, they are introduced to Mr. Boddy and his chatty butler, Wadsworth.
During dinner, Mr. Boddy reveals that he has been blackmailing all of the guests for various reasons. He offers to give them each an envelope containing the evidence against them if they do something for him. However, before anyone can make a move, Mr. Boddy is killed.
The guests immediately become suspects in the murder, and Wadsworth suggests that they work together to solve the crime. However, as they investigate, more murders occur, and it becomes clear that the killer is still among them.
The film features multiple endings, and different versions were released in different regions, each revealing a different culprit. This was done to mimic the experience of playing the board game, where the culprit and motive of the crime are randomly determined each time you play.
Clue was initially a box office disappointment but has since gained a cult following. It is known for its comedic performances, clever dialogue, and the memorable line, "Flames... on the side of my face."
