Circus Nightmare: Brothers Face Madmen

Horror  United States of America

Clownhouse is a 1989 horror film directed by Victor Salva. The movie starts with Casey (played by Nathan Forrest Winters), Geoffrey (played by Brian McHugh), and Randy (played by Sam Rockwell) - three young brothers who are alone in their big house. They are excited about Halloween but a little scared too. However, their fears become real when three escaped mental patients - Hanson (played by Frank Charles), Loomis (played by Michael Jerome West), and Schizo (played by Byron Weible) - arrive at their doorstep wearing clown costumes and makeup.

The mental patients had murdered some traveling circus clowns and taken their identities to escape. They thought it would be fun to scare the young boys by pretending to be the circus clowns. However, things quickly spiral out of control as they start to terrorize the brothers. Casey, the youngest brother, has a fear of clowns, which the mental patients exploit to make things even worse.

As the night goes on, Randy manages to call for help, but the phone lines have been cut. The brothers are forced to fend for themselves against the crazed clowns. They try to escape the house, but the clowns are always one step ahead of them. The mental patients' intentions become clear, and it's up to the boys to survive the night and protect themselves from the clowns.

Clownhouse is known for its controversial history due to Salva being convicted of sexually abusing one of the child actors in the film. However, the movie itself received mixed reviews, with some people praising its suspenseful atmosphere and others criticizing its lack of character development.
