Cliffhanger is a 1993 action adventure film directed by Renny Harlin and starred by Sylvester Stallone, John Lithgow, Michael Rooker, and Janine Turner. The movie is set in the Rocky Mountains where two climbers are scaling the treacherous cliffs. However, things go wrong, and one of the climbers falls to his death while trying to rescue the other.
A year later, Gabe Walker (Sylvester Stallone), a former ranger who quit his job after failing to save his friend, is called back to the same peak to help with a rescue mission. A group of troubled climbers led by a beautiful woman named Jessie Deighan (Janine Turner) has lost their way while attempting to scale the mountain.
Gabe and his partner, Hal Tucker (Michael Rooker), are called in to assist with the rescue. However, they soon realize that the "climbers" are actually a group of hijackers led by a ruthless criminal mastermind named Eric Qualen (John Lithgow) who plans to steal $100 million from a U.S. Treasury plane that crashed nearby. The hijackers have already infiltrated the team of climbers and have their eyes on a briefcase containing the money.
As the rescue mission gets more complicated, Gabe and Hal find themselves in a race against time to prevent the hijackers from escaping with the money. They must navigate through dangerous terrain, face-off against highly trained mercenaries, and use all their skills and wits to outsmart Qualen and his gang.
The movie features breathtaking action sequences and stunning visuals of the mountain landscape. It also explores themes of redemption, sacrifice, and loyalty as Gabe tries to come to terms with his past failures and find a way to save the day.
