Clergy

Drama  Poland

The movie Clergy explores the lives of three Catholic priests in Poland and the challenges they face in their personal and professional lives. The three men - Lisowski, Trybus, and Kuku?a - are brought together by a tragic event that occurred a few years ago. Since then, they meet every year on the anniversary of the disaster as a way to remember and celebrate their survival.

Lisowski is the most ambitious of the three priests. He works at the curia in a big city and dreams of rising through the ranks to eventually become a high-ranking official in the Vatican. However, he faces obstacles in the form of Archbishop Mordowicz, an influential church official who is using his political power to build a massive sanctuary in Poland. Lisowski sees Mordowicz as his main rival and is determined to overcome him to achieve his goals.

Trybus is a village parson who ministers to a poor community. He is struggling with his own personal demons and is increasingly giving in to his weaknesses. His faith is tested as he tries to balance his duties as a priest with his own desires and passions.

Kuku?a's story is the most tragic of the three. Despite being a devout and faithful priest, he suddenly loses the trust of his parishioners overnight. This sends him into a downward spiral as he questions everything he has ever believed and struggles to find his way back to his faith.

As the movie progresses, the stories of these three clergymen begin to intertwine once again. They are forced to confront their past and the events that brought them together, as well as their own personal struggles and doubts. Through it all, they must find a way to reconcile their faith with their humanity and find meaning in their calling as priests. Ultimately, Clergy is a thought-provoking and poignant exploration of faith, doubt, and the challenges of the human experience.
