Clear History is a comedy film directed by Greg Mottola and stars Larry David as Nathan Flomm, a marketing executive who quits his job at a start-up electric car company after a disagreement with his boss, Will Haney (played by Jon Hamm), over the design of the company's car. Flomm forfeits his shares in the company, only to see it become a massive success years later, leaving him with regret for his decision.
In order to escape his embarrassment, Flomm moves to Martha's Vineyard and changes his name to Rolly DaVore. He shaves his head and grows a bushy beard, making him almost unrecognizable from his former self. He tries to start a new life on the island, but his past catches up with him when Haney moves there as well.
Flomm becomes obsessed with getting revenge on Haney for what he perceives to be a personal betrayal, though Haney has no idea who DaVore really is. So, he collaborates with a local garage owner (Danny McBride) and other misfits to try and derail Haney's plans to build a mansion on the island.
Throughout the film, Flomm/DaVore's attempts to get revenge on Haney become increasingly ridiculous, leading to several humorous and chaotic situations. The film features an ensemble cast including Kate Hudson, Eva Mendes, Michael Keaton, Bill Hader, and Amy Ryan.
Clear History was produced by HBO Films and premiered on HBO in 2013. The film received generally positive reviews from critics for its humor and Larry David's performance.
