Tom Cutler (played by Samuel L. Jackson) is a former police officer who has turned to cleaning up death scenes as a means to support his young daughter. When he is called to a wealthy suburban residence to clean up after a brutal shooting, he discovers that the victim was a high-profile businessman and that the crime scene has been tampered with.
As he begins his cleaning, he realizes that he may have inadvertently erased crucial evidence and destroyed the crime scene. Cutler becomes increasingly frustrated as he tries to uncover the truth, but finds that the more he digs, the more dangerous the situation becomes.
The plot thickens when Cutler discovers that he has become entangled in a criminal cover-up involving the victim's business partner, played by Ed Harris. Harris' character will stop at nothing to protect his interests, and he uses his power and influence to silence those who threaten his empire, including Cutler.
As the tension builds, Cutler must navigate a dangerous web of deceit and corruption to uncover the truth and clear his name. Meanwhile, he struggles to balance his responsibilities as a single father with his desperate pursuit of justice.
In addition to Samuel L. Jackson and Ed Harris, Cleaner also features Eva Mendes as a police detective who becomes involved in the case, and Luis Guzmán as Cutler's friend and colleague in the cleaning business. The film was directed by Renny Harlin and released in 2007.
