City of Trees follows the story of a young woman named Kat who returns to her hometown for the holidays after several years of living in the big city. She is met with old friends, family, and unresolved feelings that she must confront.
Kat is struggling to find her place in the world and is unsure of where she stands in life. She is greeted by her childhood friend, Matthew, who is now engaged to her former best friend, Emily. This causes Kat to reflect on her past relationship with Matthew and the frustration she feels towards Emily.
