City of Industry is a neo-noir crime thriller film directed by John Irvin and starring Harvey Keitel, Stephen Dorff, and Timothy Hutton. Keitel plays Roy Egan, a retired master thief who is summoned by his younger brother Lee (Dorff) to pull off one last heist. The job goes smoothly, but Lee is killed by their psycho accomplice, Jorge Montana (played by a terrifyingly manic & unforgettable Michael Jai White), who steals the take and leaves Roy for dead.
Roy survives and is determined to avenge his brother's murder and reclaim the stolen loot. Along the way he is joined by his former partner, Jorge's estranged girlfriend Rachel (Famke Janssen), with whom Roy develops a complicated relationship over the course of the film.
The trio embark on a dangerous journey through the City of Industry in Southern California, chasing leads and dodging the police and Montana's henchmen while trying to stay alive. Montana is a particularly vicious and unpredictable villain, willing to do anything to keep the money and eliminate anyone who stands in his way. The tension between Roy and Montana builds throughout the film, culminating in a violent and satisfying showdown.
City of Industry is notable for its gritty, realistic portrayal of the criminal underworld and its captivating performances by Keitel and Dorff. The film touches on themes of loyalty, betrayal, and redemption, and features some thrilling action sequences and suspenseful moments. It was a commercial flop upon its release, but has since gained a cult following among fans of the genre.
