The movie City of Angels was released in 1998 and directed by Brad Silberling. It stars Nicolas Cage as Seth and Meg Ryan as Maggie. The film is a remake of the German film "Wings of Desire" directed by Wim Wenders.

Seth is an angel who watches over the city of Los Angeles, interacting with the people he watches over but never able to touch or feel anything himself. One day, while on his usual rounds, he observes Maggie, a heart surgeon, saving the life of a patient. He becomes enamored by her and begins following her in her daily life. Over time, they develop a relationship despite the fact that they are from different worlds.

As Seth and Maggie continue their relationship, Seth begins to question his existence as an angel and decides to become human so that he can be with Maggie. However, becoming human comes with its own set of challenges, such as losing his immortality and facing the realities of mortality. Maggie, too, must grapple with the decision of whether to give up her own life as a heart surgeon for a life with Seth.

Despite the challenges and obstacles they face, Seth and Maggie's love story remains poignant and ultimately tragic. The movie features a beautiful soundtrack, including the hit single "Iris" by the Goo Goo Dolls, and is a thought-provoking meditation on love, life and death.
