City Island is a 2009 comedy-drama film directed and written by Raymond De Felitta. The film revolves around the Rizzo family, who live in the eponymous City Island, a fishing village in the Bronx. The family members are a dysfunctional bunch with secrets and lies that they keep from one another. Vince (played by Andy Garcia), the patriarch of the family, is a corrections officer who dreams of being an actor. His wife Joyce (played by Julianna Margulies) believes he is attending a poker game rather than acting class, while their teenage son Vinnie Jr. (played by Ezra Miller) has a secret fetish for obese women.

One day, Vince brings home Tony (played by Steven Strait), a young ex-convict whom he claims to have saved from a life of crime. The family welcomes Tony with open arms, but as the days pass, secrets and tensions start to surface. Joyce discovers that Vince is attending acting classes, while Vinnie Jr. secretly meets with his online fetish partner and becomes increasingly obsessed with her. Meanwhile, Tony's motives for staying with the family are revealed, and they are not what they seem.

As the family's foundation is rocked by the arrival of Tony, they must confront their lies and reveal their secrets to one another. The film delicately balances humor and drama, and the performances by the cast, particularly Garcia and Miller, are excellent. The film highlights the struggles of a dysfunctional family and the power of honesty and acceptance.
