City Heat is a 1984 American crime comedy film directed by Richard Benjamin and starring Clint Eastwood and Burt Reynolds. The film was written by Blake Edwards and Joseph Stinson, based on a story idea by Edwards.

The film is set in 1933 in Kansas City during the Great Depression. Eastwood plays Lt. Speer, a tough, no-nonsense police detective who is known to bend the rules to get the job done. Reynolds plays his former partner, Mike Murphy, a wisecracking private eye who was forced to leave the police force after he got too close to the Mob.

The two men were once best friends, but a falling out over a woman caused their friendship to end. When Murphy's partner is killed in a mob hit, he comes to Speer for help in tracking down the killers. Speer is reluctant to work with Murphy, but agrees when he realizes that the Mob is involved.

The two men soon discover that the Mob is using a local nightclub as a front for their illegal activities. They team up with the club's singer, played by Jane Alexander, to try to get inside and gather evidence against the gangsters.

As they get closer to the truth, they realize they are putting their lives on the line. They are ambushed by the Mob, and a shootout ensues. In the end, they are able to bring the Mob to justice, but not without paying a heavy price.

City Heat received mixed reviews from critics and was a box office disappointment. However, it has since gained a cult following among Eastwood and Reynolds fans. The film is notable for featuring a score by legendary composer Lennie Niehaus, who worked with Eastwood on many of his films.
