When the protagonist, 16-year-old John, moves to a new town with his family, he is excited to start fresh and make new friends. As a devout Christian, he joins the local church and becomes an active member of the congregation. However, John soon realizes that something is amiss in the town.
One night, he stumbles upon a group of people wearing black robes and chanting in a secluded part of the town. The next day, he overhears a conversation between the mayor and a prominent businessman discussing the "dark rituals" that take place in the town and the need to protect them at all costs.
John decides to investigate and uncovers a secret underground society that has been operating in the town for centuries. They believe in a dark deity and perform gruesome sacrifices to appease it. John realizes that the society is being protected by the mayor and other members of the town's elite, and decides to take matters into his own hands.
With the help of his friends from church, John tries to expose the truth about the society to the rest of the town. However, the cult members are determined to keep their practices hidden, and will stop at nothing to preserve their way of life. John and his friends find themselves in a dangerous game of cat and mouse, as they try to save themselves and the rest of the town from the clutches of the Church of Darkness.
