In "Chronicle Mysteries: Recovered", Alex McPherson, a true crime podcaster and investigative journalist, returns to her hometown of Bucks County, Pennsylvania to look into the disappearance of a childhood friend, Gina DeSavio, who vanished without a trace 20 years ago. As Alex digs deeper into the case, she discovers that there may have been foul play involved in Gina's disappearance, and begins to uncover long-buried secrets in the town.
To help her investigation, Alex enlists the help of local newspaper editor, Ben, who initially resists her request. However, as they delve deeper into the case, they uncover a decades-old murder, as well as a cover-up that threatens to ruin the lives of those in the town who have been keeping secrets.
As Alex and Ben continue to follow the trail, they find themselves in danger as the people involved in the cover-up will stop at nothing to protect their secrets, including putting Alex's safety at risk.
In a dramatic conclusion, Alex and Ben uncover the truth about what happened to Gina, and bring to light the dark secrets that have been hidden and protected for so many years.
