Emmy is a struggling writer who has always dreamed of having her book published. When she submits her manuscript about life on an Australian farm, she never expects it to be such a huge success. Suddenly, she's receiving calls from major publishing houses and the CEO of her dream publishing company, Charlotte, wants to meet with her in person to discuss the book.
The only problem is, Emmy has never lived on a farm in Australia. In fact, she's lived her entire life in the suburbs of New York City. Desperate to keep up the ruse and live out her dream, she convinces her best friend to let her stay at her family's farm in upstate New York and pose as a farmhand.
Despite her lack of experience, Emmy manages to fool Charlotte and her handsome son, Carter. However, as she spends more time on the farm and gets to know the people and animals there, she starts to fall in love with the simple, wholesome lifestyle. She also begins to develop feelings for Carter, who seems to understand her in a way no one else ever has.
But when the truth about her identity comes out, Emmy must face the reality of what she's done and figure out what she really wants in life. Will she give up her dream of being a published author to stay on the farm with Carter, or will she go back to her old life in the city?
